The thread is furry and built from many small fibres, which give a soft character and a luxurious touch. The yarn is especially good for edges and details on knitwear – and for teddies, rabbits and other animals in our crochet patterns, where a fur‑like look is desired.
How the yarn is made
Core
Couture is built around a strong acrylic fibre.
Both core and outer fibres are 100% acrylic, so the construction is clean and simple.
Fibre construction
The long, soft fibres on the outside are fixed via a hollow‑spindle technique, where a binding thread lays the fibres closely and stably around the core.
That method gives an even and full result with a beautiful, uniform surface.
Brushing and structure
To achieve Couture’s characteristic fluffy look, the yarn goes through 4–6 professional brushing passes on cylinder machines with progressively finer threads.
This is where the yarn gains its softness, body and luxurious character.
Loose fibres
A few loose fibres are natural in this yarn type. They are largely removed in an air‑cleaning step, and our experience is that the amount of loose fibres decreases clearly after the first wash.
Colours
Each colour is processed so that hand feel and fluff level are always highly consistent – regardless of shade.
Knitting and crochet gauge
The best result comes when the yarn is crocheted or knitted with a gauge that keeps the fibres in place. This gives a stable, calm and beautiful look.
Some of the most popular patterns where Couture plays the leading role are our Teddy Friends and the Long‑Eared Bunnies. They are also brought to life in one of our small videos, where you see them climbing up onto a chair to be photographed. One bunny hides its eyes behind its paws – a little too shy for the camera – but is eventually persuaded by its friend to peek out. A small scene where the soft fur yarn truly shows its charm.
