Stitch wires and holders

Stitch wires are used when stitches need to be set aside during a knitting project – for example, if a sweater needs to be tried on, or if there aren’t enough circular needles of the right length. The wire is cut to the desired length and attached to the tip of the knitting needle, where the material grips both wooden and metal needles. The stitches can then be gently slid over onto the wire. At the ends, you can either place a stitch stopper or tie a knot to keep the stitches in place.

Stitch holders in aluminium are another solution for parking stitches – practical when the needles are needed for another project, or when there’s simply a need to secure a swatch.
